What Card Scanner is
Card Scanner is a free Android application, published by Willowcy, that turns paper business cards into digital contacts. You point your phone's camera at a business card and the app reads it, so you never have to type a card's details by hand or lose one in a drawer.
How it works
- You photograph a business card with the in-app camera.
- The photo is sent to our server, which uses Google's Gemini AI to read the text and identify each field — name, job title, company, phone numbers, email address, website and postal address.
- The extracted details are shown to you for review, so you can correct anything the AI misread before saving.
- Saved cards are stored on your device and in your account, so they are available on every device you sign in to.
- You can sort cards into categories, search across all of them, and delete any card at any time.
The card photograph itself is never stored. It is used to extract the text and then discarded; only the contact details you review and save are kept.
Why Card Scanner asks you to sign in
An account is required so that your cards can be backed up and synced between your devices, and so the AI scanning service can be limited to a fair number of scans per person per day.
You may sign in either with an email address and password, or with Sign in with Google. Google sign-in is offered purely as a convenience so you do not need to create and remember another password.
What we receive from your Google Account
- Your name — shown in the app so you know which account you are signed in to.
- Your email address — used as your account identifier, so your cards are linked to you and restored when you sign in again.
- Your profile picture — displayed as your avatar in the app.
That is the entire extent of it. Card Scanner requests no other Google data. It does not read your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Photos or Google Contacts, and it cannot post or send anything on your behalf. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
You can delete your account and everything stored with it at any time, from Profile → Delete Account in the app or via our account deletion page. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
